Another police dog with the Vancouver Police Department will receive a protective vest, again thanks to a donation sponsored by Shana Greene of Newcastle, near Seattle.

Ivar will join Tripp, another department K-9, in getting a vest from Vested Interest in K9s, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that provides bullet- and gunshot-resistant vests for police dogs.

Both dogs’ vests will be embroidered in memory of fallen Clark County police dogs Dakota and Ike.

The vests cost between $1,795 to $2,234, the department said, include a five-year warranty and weigh around 4 pounds.

The vests are custom-made by Armor Express in Central Lake, Mich., and the program is open to certified, working police dogs.
