A man is suing PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, alleging he received substandard care.

Wenceslao Reyes filed the complaint on Sept. 30 in Clark County Superior Court. The lawsuit also lists defendants Emergency Medicine Associates, which has a contract with the hospital, and two doctors: Geraldine Stark and Dean Rasmussen.

The suit alleges that Reyes received medical care “that was below the applicable standards of care under the circumstances and without informed consent.” The lawsuit does not say when Reyes was treated or for what.

It also does not specify how Reyes has been affected, only that he’s “suffered general and special damages, in amounts to be determined at trial.”

Reyes is being represented by Vancouver attorney Jane E. Clark.

Randy Querin, a spokesman for PeaceHealth, said he could not comment on the matter because of privacy rules and out of respect for patients’ rights.

Efforts to reach a spokesperson with Emergency Medicine Associates were unsuccessful Tuesday.
