Washougal — A little rain couldn’t stop Gause Elementary School’s 15th annual Sport-A-Thon.

The two-day event normally takes place at Washougal High School, but after the first day of games on Sept. 24, rain caused the following day’s activities to take place in the Gause gym. Students in each grade run through a variety of games, including kicking soccer balls, running on a track and jumping rope.

The event is a fundraiser. In the past, money has been used for the school’s Artist-in-Residency program that provides art projects for each grade level, family bingo nights, family fitness nights, a science fair, dance assemblies, a new sound system in the gym and new music chairs.
