Week 4 fall sports athlete of the week: Taylor Kernion, Skyview soccer

Taylor Kernion of Skyview girls soccer was voted The Columbian’s high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 3.

Kernion collected 50 percent of the 3,454 votes cast by fans to beat out Rachel Blair of Camas girls cross country, who had 33 percent.

Kernion scored five goals and one assist in two league wins for the Storm.

The other nominees were Quinn Nelson of Battle Ground cross country, Kara Noftsker of Columbia River swimming and Spencer Tibbits of Fort Vancouver golf.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Athletes may be elected player of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
