Dolly England, Clark College’s diversity outreach manager, was recently appointed to the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs by Gov. Jay Inslee. A former vice president of the Vancouver NAACP, England joined Clark College in January to help guide the college’s efforts to attract and retain diverse employees. In her new role, she will help shape policy and understanding regarding African-Americans in the state.

New businesses

Baron Kim has opened a new bakery, Baron Pattiserie, at 16500 S.E. 15th St., Suite 140, in Vancouver. Kim has 15 years’ experience working in his family bakery in Manhattan, N.Y. and specializes in French pastries and croissants, largely for the wholesale market. Regular hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
