Clark athletic report 10/26

What happened this past week in Clark College athletics:

MEN’S SOCCER

Notable: Clark went 2-0 with a pair of 2-0 victories last week over Rogue and Portland. Marco Gonzalez had seven saves in goal to record both shutouts.

Record: 9-4-2 overall, 8-2-1 NWAC South, first place. Ranked 4th in Oct. 15 coaches poll (next poll comes out Thursday).

This week: Southwestern Oregon vs. Clark, 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony Sports Complex (regular-season finale).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Notable: The Penguins had a 12-0 win over Rogue and 5-0 win over Clackamas. Skyview grad Brenna Bogle is second in the NWAC with 17 goals scored.

Record: 12-1-3 overall, 9-0-2 NWAC South, first place. Ranked 5th in Oct. 15 coaches poll (next poll comes out Thursday).

This week: Lane at Clark, noon Saturday (regular-season finale).

VOLLEYBALL

Notable: Clark lost to Chemeketa 3-1, and lost to Linn-Benton 3-1.

Record: 16-13 overall, 3-4 NWAC South (4th place).

This week: Clark at Umpqua, 6 p.m. Thursday; Clark at Southwestern Oregon, 6 p.m. Friday.

CROSS COUNTRY

Notable: Sam Garvin, a Mountain View grad, was named the Week 7 NWAC cross country athlete of the week. Garvin is the second Clark athlete to receive the honor this season as James Breen, a Heritage grad, was the Week 5 athlete of the week.

Next meet: The Penguins are scheduled to take part in the Southern Regional Championship on Friday at Clackamas.
