A crash involving two motorcycles Saturday on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County left a Portland man with significant injuries and hurt another man from Vancouver.
At about 12:30 p.m., Michael L. Collman, 40, of Portland was driving a 1978 Harley Davidson Motorcycle north in the right lane, followed by James T. Marrone, 30, of Vancouver, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol. Collman lost control of his motorcycle and laid it down in the right lane of the freeway, WSP said.
Marrone’s motorcycle then hit Collman’s motorcycle and caught on fire, according to the news release. Both men were wearing helmets.
Collman was taken by Life Flight helicopter to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, according to WSP. Marrone was hurt but did not need to be transported to a hospital, the news release said.
Collman was listed in satisfactory condition at PeaceHealth on Sunday night, according to hospital staff.
