Prep roundup: Union boys tennis stays unbeaten

For the second time in less than a week, the Union boys tennis team squeeked out a 4A Greater St. Helens League victory on the basis of total games won.

Union and Camas played to a 3-3 tie on Monday, with Union winning the match on a 55-50 total games won tiebreaker.

Union, the only undefeated team in league play at 6-0 and 8-0 overall, also needed a tiebreaker last week to beat Mountain View.

Stars of the day

Justin Yee and Algird Zalpys, Mountain View tennis, came back from a set down and and a match point against them to beat Skyview’s Chris Sheppert and Sam Sacco 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (13-11) at No. 2 doubles in the Thunder’s 4-2 team win.

Jackson Guffey, Skyview golf, shot 3-over-par 38 for medalist honors in the Storm’s 161-171 win over Prairie at The Cedars on Salmon Creek.

Nick Ayres, Columbia River golf, shot 4-over-par 38 for medalist honors in the Chieftains’ 159-191 win over Washougal at Orchard Hills.
