DiscoverOrg more than doubled its staff last year, and the Vancouver-based market intelligence provider is gearing up for another round of expansion.

The company had around 140 employees in early 2015, and finished the year with a little more than 300. Henry Schuck, DiscoverOrg’s co-founder and CEO, said he expects to add another 200 jobs by the end of 2017.

“We’ve continued to grow both top- and bottom-line revenue,” he said. “We continue to offer the highest quality database of professionals, and our customers are asking for more.”

DiscoverOrg will look to hire people across all teams, from research and software development to sales, marketing, customer success and operations, Schuck said.

“We need human researchers to cleanse data,” he said. “Once we’re building and cleansing more data, we’ll need more sales and marketing and engineering people to bring on customers, to manage the customers and give the customers a well-engineered product they can access online.”

In early 2015, the company moved from the EastRidge Business Park to the 805 Broadway building downtown, operating out of the ninth floor and a quarter of the eighth floor, Schuck said. The company expanded to take the entire eighth floor in January.

“That’s about 56,000 square feet,” Schuck said. “We think we can fit another 100 bodies in there. From there, we’ll look to expand to another floor. We’ll figure out the expansion plans once we come close to it.”

Schuck said not only does he want the company to expand in the same building, he wants to bring more people into Vancouver.

“We’re looking hard to build a world-class sales and engineering team,” he said. “We’re trying to pull people across the (Columbia) River and convince them of the benefits of Vancouver. Pulling them across the river will be a big initiative for us.”

Out of the 160 or so people hired last year, about 45 of them were hired away from companies in the Portland area, Schuck said.

Schuck also said the company has no plans of moving out of Vancouver.

“From a business perspective, we’re close to Hilton, so it’s easy to have clients and shareholders come in,” he said. “We’re extremely happy with the growth in Vancouver. Nice eateries and bars have come in. We feel like we’re part of the fabric of this community. We literally have never thought of leaving the city.”
