Nominees for Week 2 winter sports athlete of the week

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues until Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Dec. 10.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

CAMERON CRANSTON, UNION BOYS BASKETBALL: Cranston scored 34 points in a win over Mark Morris and 28 in a win over Kentwood.

MADDI DURR, FORT VANCOUVER BOWLING: Durr averaged 210 over four games last week, including a high game of 257.

TYLER HAWKINS, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS WRESTLING: Hawkins won the 145-pound division at the Centralia Tiger Classic with two pins and one technical fall.

SIERRA JONER, BATTLE GROUND GIRLS WRESTLING: Joner won the 125-pound division at the Centralia Tiger Classic with two pins and a technical fall.

ROB MEAD, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS SWIMMING: Mead won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke as well as two relays in a meet at Propstra Aquatic.
