Police responded to a bank robbery Monday evening at People’s Community Credit Union in Hazel Dell, but were unable to track down the robber.

The call was reported from the credit union office, at 7403 N.E. Hazel Del Ave., at about 5:40 p.m.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bill Sofianos said a man entered the bank and handed a teller a note saying he intended to rob the bank. She handed over the cash, then the man left.

Sofianos said no weapon was seen or implied during the robbery.

Sheriff’s deputies and Vancouver police officers searched the area, and brought out a police dog, but were unable to locate the robber, Sofianos said.

The sheriff’s office described the suspect a white man, 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with dark hair and a several days’ growth of facial hair.

The man was wearing a dark ball cap with a light logo in the center; a long black jacket with a light, possibly flannel lining on the hood; medium-dark jeans; and black tennis shoes with white on the sides of the soles. Police released an image of the suspect taken from surveillance footage.

Those with information about the robbery are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 877-274-6311.
