OLYMPIA — A new poll shows Washington Gov. Jay Inslee leading his Republican opponent by nine points, with about a third of voters undecided.

The poll released Wednesday by independent pollster Stuart Elway shows that 39 percent of voters surveyed said they would support the Democratic incumbent while 30 percent planned to support Inslee’s opponent, Seattle Port Commissioner Bill Bryant. Thirty-one percent of voters were still undecided 10 months ahead of the gubernatorial contest. Elway’s survey showed that support split mostly along party lines, with 82 percent of Democrats saying they supported Inslee and 80 percent of Republicans supporting Bryant. Forty-nine percent of independents were undecided.

The survey of 500 registered voters was conducted by phone Dec. 28-30. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
