An 18-year-old Vancouver man appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court for allegedly robbing a 16-year-old boy and flashing a handgun at a woman in a separate incident.

Lyedarius D. Stewart appeared on suspicion of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and harassment in one case and second-degree robbery in another.

Police were dispatched at about 8:30 p.m. Friday to the 4000 block of Northeast Plomondon Street for a reported firearm brandishing. Jessica Gastineau said she was socializing with a group of friends in the field at the Parsley Center when another group of about 10 males approached her and her friends and started a confrontation, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A male in the other group accused her friend of staring at him and challenging him to fight. The groups exchanged words, and Gastineau told the primary aggressor, later identified as Stewart, to “get out of here!” the affidavit states.

She said she held a can of Mace to protect herself. Stewart walked toward her, lifted his shirt and displayed a firearm and said, “I’m not afraid to blow a (expletive) brains out,” court records said. Gastineau said she retreated. A friend, Tanner Palmquist, corroborated Gastineau’s account, according to court documents.

Police located Stewart in the 2600 block of Northeast General Anderson Avenue and found a loaded .380 caliber handgun on him, the affidavit said.

Stewart also allegedly was involved in a robbery June 13. He physically fought with a 16-year-old boy in the area of Stapleton Road and Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard, then took the boy’s backpack. The backpack and its contents were estimated to be worth about $75, according to a separate probable cause affidavit.

When interviewed by police Friday, Stewart denied being involved in the robbery. But when asked if he had the boy’s belongings, he said, “yeah, you know all the answers,” the affidavit states.

During his court hearing, Judge Gregory Gonzales set Stewart’s bail at $100,000 between the two cases. He will be arraigned July 1.
