Letter: Work to stop coal facility

By Maggie May, Portland
Published: May 12, 2016, 6:00am

My family and I were thrilled to hear that the proposed coal export terminal at Cherry Point has been denied a permit.

Hopefully the people of Longview will band together in the same way to support community and clean energy, not coal and corporations, at the DEIS hearing for Millennium Bulk Terminals on May 24. Residents of Vancouver who oppose the terminal can carpool from the Salmon Creek Park & Ride at noon in time to make the hearing at Cowlitz County Expo Center, which will be from 1 to 9 p.m.

The Northwest is a place of pride and natural beauty, not a place where dirty energies can exploit the people to make a quick buck.
