A Vancouver police sergeant returning from a call Thursday found an old, near-blind pug loose and trying to make her way out of the roadway, and she was going to be placed with a pug-focused rescue group after no owners could be found.

The dog has a microchip implant, but the chip doesn’t appear to be currently registered to anyone, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Sgt. Joe Graaff found the dog near Northeast Stapleton Road and Plomondon Street, the department said. She was brought to Vancouver Veterinary Hospital, where she had her eyes cleaned out and nails trimmed.
