Union, Prairie lock up league titles in boys golf

The Union and Prairie boys golf teams clinched league titles with wins on Tuesday.

Union beat Skyview 147-157 to win the 4A Greater St. Helens League title. Ben Gruher and Dylan Henry led the Titans with one-under 36s at Tri-Mountain. Hayden Meeker had an even-par 37. Tyler Jones of Skyview also shot a 36.

Prairie beat Mountain View 151-169 to clinch the 3A GSHL title. Jacob Abrahamson shot a 1-under 35 to pace the Falcons at Fairway Village. Gage Hannon and Dante Heitschmidt shot 38s as did Mountain View’s Ben Arthur.

The 4A and 3A district tournaments are next week at Lewis River Golf Course.

Girls soccer

The battle for first place in girls soccer in the 2A Greater St. Helens League went right down to the wire with Ridgefield escaping with a 3-2 win over Hockinson on penalty kicks.

Brooke Weese and Annika Farley both scored goals off assists from Taryn Ries for Ridgefield. Alivia Quitugua scored on an assists from Alyssa Chapin, and Trinity Paulsen had an unassisted goal for the Hawks.

Ridgefield won the penalty kick shootout 5-4 to improve to 6-0 in league play. Hockinson dropped to 5-1.

• Ellie Walker, Columbia River girls soccer, had two goals and two assists in a 5-0 win over Washougal.

• Maria Teed, Skyview volleyball, had 11 kills in a straight-sets win over Battle Ground.

• Lily Freshwater, Columbia River volleyball, had 20 assists and five kills in a win over Washougal.

• Keelie Leblanc, Camas volleyball, had seven kills, two blocks, and two aces in a win over Union.

• Bailey Crawford, Seton Catholic volleyball, had 17 kills and six blocks in a five-set win over Stevenson.

• Abby England, La Center volleyball, had 37 digs and two aces in a five-set win over King’s Way Christian.

• Aimee Kurfurst, Prairie soccer, scored the first two goals in a win over Hudson’s Bay.

• Riley McDonough, Seton Catholic soccer, had two goals in a 3-2 win over La Center.

• Serena Bartley, Ridgefield volleyball, had 11 kills, 9 digs, 4 blocks and 2 aces as the Spudders remained unbeaten in the 2A GSHL.

• Zoe McBride, Prairie volleyball, had 16 kills, 10 digs and 3 aces in a 3-0 win over Mountain View.

• Elisa Haug, Hudson’s Bay volleyball, had 11 kills, 10 digs, five blocks and three aces in a 3-0 win over Evergreen.

• Janessa Klutz, Skyview girls soccer, had two goals in a 6-0 win over Battle Ground.
