A 43-year-old man appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a group of teens at Little Prairie Park and threatened to shoot them.

Jason S. Rousseau of Vancouver faces three allegations of first-degree assault stemming from the early Saturday morning altercation.

Judge Scott Collier set Rousseau’s bail at $35,000. He will be arraigned Oct. 21.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the park, 7792 N.E. 142nd Ave., after a caller reported that a man was pointing a gun at a group of people at the park. A witness to the altercation took a photo of Rousseau with the gun, and several people identified him as the armed suspect, according to court documents.

In an interview with officers, Rousseau, who lives nearby, said he was confronted by a group of about 20 teens who threatened and assaulted him. He reached into his truck and grabbed the gun for self-defense. When asked why he stopped and got out of his truck to confront the teens, rather than leaving, he changed his story and said he was punched while he was still in his truck, court records said.
