Letter: Nation is better than Trump

By Doug Curtis, Yacolt

Conscientious supporters of Donald Trump dutifully deplore his long-running disparagement of women not meeting his standards for attractiveness, as they previously deplored his blanket denunciations of those with the wrong ethnicity or religion.

Nevertheless, they argue, he must be elected because, you know, conservative justices, Obamacare, etc. They perforce deny any adverse consequences of his profound ignorance, off-the-chart volatility, and complete certitude that he knows exactly what must and will be accomplished, apparently through sheer force of will.

This argument and denial demeans our constitutional system of governance and trashes our professed values.

Come on folks, we’re better than that.
