Letter: Information is erroneous

By Arden Hagen, Vancouver

Regarding Maureen Casteel’s letter of Oct. 17 (“Clinton endangers country”), wherein she cited the Hatch Act prohibiting federal employees from campaigning in elections, she shamed President Obama for doing so. Had she actually read the Hatch Act she would see that the president, vice president and others are exempt from this law.

Also, civil service employees are allowed some latitude to campaign off the clock in an unofficial capacity. She owes the public and President Obama an apology for putting out uninformed, erroneous information.
