Prep highlights: La Center volleyball gets share of its first league title

Laynie Erickson and Maddie Stimmel led the La Center volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Seton Catholic, earning the Wildcats a share of the first volleyball league title in school history.

La Center beat Seton 25-13, 25-3, 25-21 to improve to 9-0 in the Trico League, just ahead of Castle Rock at 8-1. The Wildcats can earn the outright league title with a win against the Rockets on Thursday.

Erickson had 13 kills, 11 digs and six blocks, and Stimmel had nine kills, 15 digs, five aces and three blocks for La Center.

1A golf

Sean Ball and Nate Kutch finished second and third to help Seton Catholic place second at the 1A district tournament at Tumwater Valley.

Ball had a 36-hole total of 158, 14 shots behind district champion John Sand of Hoquiam. Kutch followed at 163.

King’s Way Christian placed third with golfers finishing fifth, sixth and seventh with Blake Scully (171), Cole Sheretz (174) and Karter Graves (174).

• Makayla Woods, Union soccer, has a goal and an assists in her first match since suffering an injury a year ago as the Titans beat Heritage.

• Olivia Fothergill, Evergreen soccer, had two assists in a 3-1 win over Hudson’s Bay.

• Violet Hill, Mountain View soccer, had a goal and two assists in a 7-0 win over Fort Vancouver.

• MacKenzie Ellertson, King’s Way Christian soccer, had four goals and one assists in a 6-1 win over La Center.

• Whitney Quist, Camas volleyball, had 12 kills in a 3-0 win over Battle Ground.

• Brianna Clark, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had 29 assists, 2 kills, 7 digs, 3 aces in a win over Columbia-White Salmon.

• Abby Wilmington, Columbia River volleyball, had 10 kills and 7 digs in a win over R.A. Long.

• Sawyer Schroeder, Union volleyball, had 11 kills in a win over Heritage.

• Emily Johnson, Washougal volleyball, had 21 assists and four blocks in a win over Mark Morris.

• Riley McDonough, Seton Catholic soccer, had two goals in a 2-1 win over Stevenson.

• Madi Harter, Ridgefield volleyball, had 20 digs and 19 kills and four aces as the Spudders beat Skyview 3-2.

• Camas soccer defense recorded its 15th shutout of the season out 16 matches with a 4-0 win over Skyview. The Papermakers have allowed only one goal all season.
