Vancouver – The Southwest Washington Contractors Association will host a presentation on the shortage of local construction and industry jobs this month, and showcase Clark College’s new pre-apprenticeship program.

The presentation, Shop Talk: Pre-Apprenticeship and Worker Retraining Programs, will be held at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 28 at Mill Creek Pub, 1710 S.W. Ninth Ave., Battle Ground. Registration is $15 with a breakfast buffet.

Tim Cook, vice president of instruction at Clark College, will be the speaker.

Clark College recently announced a trades pre-apprenticeship program. The 11-week program, which begins this fall, will prepare adults to enter the workforce or apprentice training programs, according to the college. Students will leave the program, which costs $25, with a flagging, first aid and Occupational Health and Safety certificate.
