A Portland man has been arrested on suspicion of  killing an acquaintance whose body was found Saturday near Dougan Falls in Skamania County.

Benjamin C. Serrato, 40, is accused of killing Christopher M. Libert, 40, of Portland. An autopsy revealed that Libert died of wounds he suffered after being shot and stabbed, according to a news release from Sheriff Dave Brown. Deputies believe he was killed sometime Friday evening.

Brown said Serrato and Libert were known to be acquaintances.

Libert’s body was found around 9:10 a.m. Saturday near a bridge at Dougan Falls, a popular spot along the Washougal River 17 miles northeast of Washougal.

Libert had an arrest record for misdemeanor theft in Multnomah County, Ore. Serrato apparently has no criminal history in Multnomah County or Washington state.
