Letter: Demonstrate faith in dark times

By Mike Johnson, VANCOUVER

As Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacists show their solidarity with this president, and celebrate his words and actions, I have come to understand that there is much more than a political crisis facing each of us and our country. I believe that this crisis may also be a test of our personal faith.

Perhaps a higher power is asking us to take stock of our faith, of what we know and have been taught to be just, right and good, and then act on it. Do we remain silent as the hate and evil spews forth from the White House? Is that what our faith tells us to do?

I ask good people of all beliefs to pray for this great nation as we endure this presidency. Let us hope that we come out of this dark time as a stronger country and people.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
