Nominees for the Week 6 winter sports athlete of the week

Weekly vote, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week period ending Jan. 28.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

ALLISON GENTRY, BATTLE GROUND GIRLS BOWLING: Gentry won the 4A GSHL individual title with a 579 three-game series and helped the Tigers win the district title.

MARK KIM, CAMAS BOYS SWIMMING: Kim won the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle as well as helping Camas win two relays at the Southwest Washington Invitational.

BRYCE MULDER, WOODLAND BOYS BASKETBALL: Mulder averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds over three games, including a 42-point, 13-rebound game in a win over Mark Morris.

TAYLOR STEPHENS, LA CENTER GIRLS BASKETBALL: Stephens averaged 25 points over four league wins, including a 31-point, six-assist, six-steal game against Stevenson.

JJ TALAVERA, UNION BOYS WRESTLING: Talavera completed an undefeated career in 4A GSHL dual meets and set the school record with a 151 victories.
