Ridgefield police officers arrested a woman who investigators say drove away a stolen car with the car’s owner hanging onto its side during a carjacking in Portland Sunday afternoon.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded to a report of a carjacking in the Summer neighborhood of Portland, in the 5000 block of Northeast 86th Avenue, around 2 p.m.

Officers learned the victim, a delivery driver, had attempted to stop a woman, identified as Joey R. Campbell, 36, from stealing her car, a red Chevrolet Impala.

As the delivery driver tried to stop the theft, she ended up getting hung up on the driver’s side window as the woman started to drive the vehicle away, police said.

The victim fell from the car as Campbell sped away. The delivery driver’s injuries were not life threatening, police said, and she was taken to a hospital.

About an hour later, the Ridgefield Police Department found the stolen vehicle and Campbell in the 900 Block of West Pioneer Road in Ridgefield, after callers reported a reckless driver at the wheel of a red Chevrolet Impala.

Officers stopped Campbell, and she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possession of a stolen vehicle and third-degree driving with a suspended license.

Any possible charges in Multnomah County were pending Sunday night.
