Fire crews had to perform a technical rescue Sunday afternoon after two men became trapped among rock formations in an area known as the Potholes south of Round Lake in Camas.

Members of East County Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene at 2:37 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Mark Ervin.

Ervin said one swimmer had initially gone over a waterfall at the Potholes and gotten trapped and unable to climb out. A second swimmer went to his aid, fell, and was injured.

Neither person was in danger of drowning, Ervin said.

Crews spent two and a half hours performing a ropes rescue to safely retrieve the injured man. He was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to Ervin.
