An anticipated fall storm took aim at Clark County this morning. By the end of the day, area residents can expect driving rain, gusty winds, and perhaps some landslides and localized flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, predicting winds of 20 to 30 mph from this afternoon to 4 a.m. Sunday. Gusts could reach 40 to 50 mph.

A flood watch is also in effect from this afternoon through Sunday night. One to three inches of rain could fall in the metro area, and up to six inches in the Columbia River Gorge and Southwest Washington hills, causing localized flooding and landslides.

Power outages are another possibility. Clark Public Utilities reported that by 8:30 a.m. line crews had already restored power to 850 customers, and were working on one more small outage affecting another handful in the Meadow Glade area. (To report a power outage, call 360-992-8000.)

A landslide on Friday closed Washougal River Road near milepost 4, north of the city. It will remain closed all weekend.

The long-term forecast calls for fine weather Monday and Tuesday, with morning fog clearing for afternoon sunshine, with highs in the 60s.
