A Vancouver man was killed Saturday evening in a head-on collision in east Vancouver, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Back, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:31 p.m. crash on the 16800 block of Northeast 39th Street, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The statement said Back was driving a Kia Forte sedan west on Northeast 39th Street when his vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by Ulises Ramirez of Vancouver.

Paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts on Back, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Ramirez was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment at the scene, the sheriff’s office reported.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. The roadway was dry at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
