Letter: Actions speak louder than words

By Jerry Anderson, VANCOUVER

This is a response to Gary S. Smith’s Sept. 6 letter, “Don’t bear false witness vs. Trump.”

President Donald Trump dissed a Gold Star Muslim family, bad-mouthed an American judge with Mexican heritage, wants to build a wall to keep out the Mexicans, ban travel into this country for people from Muslim-majority countries, and rescind Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, basically for kids who have been here all their lives. I won’t go so far as to call Trump a racist, but it’s time to face the facts. We have a president whose campaign slogan should have been “Make White America Great Again.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
