Letter: Support Long for Congress

By Diane Smith, Brush Prairie
Published: April 15, 2018, 6:00am

On April 4, Kathleen Hartson attempted to make a case for why we should vote for Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, which I found very unconvincing (“Herrera Beutler speaks for us,” Our Readers’ Views).

I disagree that Carolyn Long is simply looking for a job. She’s been actively involved in this community since 1995 as a political science professor at Washington State University Vancouver and has participated in a variety of community endeavors that focus on economic development, community partnerships and civic engagement. She has held 13 town halls in four months. Long is listening to the citizens of the 3rd District and that is who I want representing me.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
