Walnut Grove — Furry Friends cat shelter has received an $11,197 grant from the Firstenburg Foundation to help the nonprofit’s ability to care for cats that need special and expensive medical care. Some cats rescued by the shelter have medical conditions more expensive to treat than routine illness, such as dental disease, respiratory infections and urinary tract disease. A portion of the money will be used to purchase a “kitty condo,” which is a large cage that can house three cats. Cats released from veterinary care will use the kitty condo to recuperate comfortably in the medical room.
