Two people were hurt, one so seriously they were transported to a hospital via helicopter, following a motorcycle crash near Woodland on Sunday afternoon.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a single-vehicle crash at the 41100 block of Northwest Hayes Road, in Clark County east of Woodland, around 4:30 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said the preliminary investigation showed that a single motorcycle with two riders, heading east on Hayes Road, failed to negotiate a corner.

The motorcycle struck a guardrail, ejecting the rear rider and sending her down a 20- to 30-foot embankment. A Life Flight helicopter transported the rider, a 40-year-old woman, to a hospital with what the sheriff’s office described as critical injuries.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, suffered what appeared to be minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said, and he was taken in an ambulance to a hospital.

The sheriff’s office traffic unit was investigating.
