Letter: Herrera Beutler needs to change

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, has an “A” rating from the NRA. She also has received money from the NRA. I call on her to stop taking contributions from the National Rifle Association and take a stand supporting national background checks, a national 10-day waiting period, and a ban (again) on assault rifles which are military weapons solely designed to efficiently kill people.

The states with the strictest gun laws have the fewest gun deaths. Citizens in the “strictest” states can still go hunting and buy handguns for home protection. Stricter gun control laws work! We need these stricter laws nationwide now.

Herrera Beutler is contributing to the problem of our current mass shooting carnage. She needs to change her position on guns or be voted out of office in November.
