Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested an athletic trainer at Hockinson High School on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a minor enrolled at the school.

The sheriff’s office said Jason Meharry, 26, was booked on suspicion of three counts of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor on Thursday. He is expected to make a first appearance on the allegations Friday morning in Clark County Superior Court.

Meharry works at ProActive Physical Therapy Specialists in Vancouver and is a contract sports trainer for the high school, according to the sheriff’s office.

Administrators in the district heard about the possibility of inappropriate conduct between Meharry and a student March 23 and immediately placed Meharry on leave and notified his employer, according to a letter sent home to families Thursday. The district also contacted the sheriff’s office.

“Due to the ongoing investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Hockinson School District cannot provide any information other than that the student is enrolled as a high school student in our district,” the letter said.

The letter asks people to “refrain from speculation,” and is signed by Principal Colleen Anders and Josh Johnson, assistant principal and athletic director.
