KENT, Wash. (AP) — The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at Kent were closed for nearly 12 hours by a three-truck crash and diesel spill.

The Transportation Department says all lanes were reopened at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. The southbound lanes had been blocked at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday by the crash that spilled a large amount of diesel from a 900-gallon tank. That spill had to be cleaned up, and 10,000 gallons of gasoline in another tank had to be transferred to another truck.

Transportation Department spokesman Patrick Conrad says northbound lanes also were blocked for a time by a crash, and traffic in both directions backed up for miles in the morning commute.
