Gaines leads IPFW past Tennessee-Martin 85-61

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Frank Gaines scored 20 points to lead five IPFW players in double figures and the Mastodons defeated Tennessee-Martin 85-61 Saturday.

Trey McCorkle added 13 points, Zach Plackemeier and Jason Smeathers each had 11 and Antwaun Boyd finished with 10 for IPFW (7-2), which won its sixth straight.

Troy King led the Skyhawks (3-7) with 14 points.

The Mastodons put together a 15-2 run to take a 22-12 lead with 8:41 left in the first half and led by double digits the rest of the way. IPFW held a 41-23 advantage at halftime and led by 24 in the second half.

The Mastodons were 30 of 52 (57.7 percent) from the field, had 22 assists and finished with nine 3-pointers, marking the 27th straight game they have hit at least five.
