Clark County’s chief economic development agency said Tuesday it has begun work on a new strategic economic development plan, marking the first such comprehensive review in nearly a decade.

The Columbia River Economic Development Council is launching this effort to focus and prioritize the region’s economic development activities based on changing trends, new technologies and industries, and the collective assets available to companies that seek to locate or grow in Southwest Washington.

The nonprofit has hired TIP Strategies, an Austin, Texas-based consulting firm, to lead the effort. The firm expects to complete its work in the second quarter of 2011 and to publicly report its findings by June 2011.
