PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say that at the time an 11-year-old was mauled by the family dog in Port Angeles, the boy’s father was out of town trying to steal a motorcycle.
KOMO News reports 38-year-old Matthew B. Sims was charged this week with reckless endangerment and possession of a stolen vehicle. He’s in the Clallam County Jail.
The boy was home alone Feb. 3 when the dog bit him on the face, hands and arms. The boy is now in foster care.
The dog, a black Labrador mix named Jack, is quarantined at the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.
