MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Latah County sheriff’s officers have arrested two juvenile boys after receiving at least 20 reports of vehicles being hit by shots fired on State Highway 8 in north Idaho.

The sheriff’s office said no one was hurt. The gunfire prompted authorities to temporarily close a portion of the rural road between the small towns of Deary and Bovill. Deputies think the first shots were fired about 11 a.m. Friday with the last damage reports phoned in about 4:30 p.m.

Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho State Police set up a perimeter around the shooting scene. KXLY reports that deputies found the spot where the shots originated and later arrested the boys.

Dispatchers say the majority of the vehicles hit were tractor-trailer rigs.

KXLY says the boys have been arrested for investigation of unlawful discharge of a firearm at a vehicle. The investigation continues.
