A Bingen and White Salmon police officer on paid leave was arrested Jan. 22 on charges of first-degree child molestation and second-degree incest.

Joshua Gines of Carson is out of custody under court imposed conditions.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office declined to offer details on the circumstances that led to the arrest because its investigation is ongoing.

Gines had a preliminary appearance in court Monday and the judge set bail at $50,000. He posted bond late Monday and was released.

He pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Thursday.

Gines is employed by the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department. He was an applicant for a road deputy position with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office when information prompting the criminal investigation was uncovered during a background check.
