The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple armed robberies at stores in Salmon Creek and Orchards.

The sheriff’s office responded at 12:33 p.m. Thursday to a robbery at the Starbucks inside the Safeway at 13023 N.E. Highway 99. The suspect, described as a white man who appeared to be in his 40s and over 6 feet tall, had a long knife, similar to a fillet or paring knife, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The man ran from the store, possibly before getting into a vehicle a short distance away, the sheriff’s office said.

A Safeway employee was knocked to the ground as the suspect ran, and the employee was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, the news release states.

Deputies searched for the suspect with the help of K-9s and drones, bringing a heavy police presence to the area.

Nearly two hours later, the Walgreens at 8511 N.E. 162nd Ave., was also robbed at knifepoint by a suspect who matched the description of the robber from Safeway. The man ran from the store again and possibly got into a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

A large number of investigators also searched the area around Walgreens, but they still didn’t find the suspect, the news release states.

Deputies also determined the suspect matched the description of the suspect in a similar robbery on Monday at the Salmon Creek Safeway, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate.
