Giant Moon takes Evan Shipman at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Favorite Giant Moon rallied strongly to overtake Icabad Crane and Groomedforvictory in the final strides and win the $70,000 Evan Shipman Stakes by a neck Monday at Saratoga Race Course.

Edgar Prado rode the 5-year-old, Rick Schosberg-trained Giant Moon, who earned $42,000 for his eighth victory from 15 career starts. He ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.24 over a fast track in a race restricted to horses bred in New York.

Giant Moon paid $3.70, $2.40 and $2.10. Icabad Crane paid $3.40 and $2.80. Groomedforvictory paid $4.20 to show.
