PASCO, Wash. (AP) — Testimony began Monday in the aggravated murder trial of Vicente Ruiz in Pasco.

He’s accused of killing five people in a 1987 shooting at a Pasco auto body shop. A sixth victim survived.

KEPR-TV reports defense lawyer Kevin Holt says police arrested the wrong man and it’s a case of mistaken identity.

Ruiz was found in 2007 in Mexico. If convicted he’ll be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
