PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Medical Board has suspended the license of the Portland psychiatrist who plans a “death with dignity house” for assisted suicides.

The Oregonian reports the board took the action Thursday against Dr. Stuart G. Weisberg for an investigation of improperly prescribing drugs. Weisberg specializes in treating addictions.

Earlier this week he announced plans for a house in Portland where people near death could end their lives under Oregon’s Death With Dignity Act.

Weisberg said he was inspired by Dr. Jack Kevorkian, who pioneered assisted suicide.
