NEW YORK (AP) — Allan Green’s fight against WBA champion Andre Ward in the Super Six World Boxing Classic has been postponed.

Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) had surgery on his right knee last year, and it gave out during training camp, forcing the former Olympic gold medalist to postpone the bout on Wednesday.

It was scheduled for April 24 in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, Calif. No makeup date was set.

Green (29-1, 20 KOs) was officially added to the super middleweight tournament last month, replacing Jermain Taylor. He has won six straight fights and will be challenging for his first world title.

Green said in a statement that he believes Ward is trying to avoid fighting him, which Ward and his promoter Dan Goossen vehemently denied.
