STUTTGART, Germany (AP) — WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck of Germany insists he has what it takes to make it at heavyweight.

The 27-year-old Huck faces undefeated Alexander Povetkin for the Russian’s WBA title on Saturday night.

Huck says he “would not have taken the fight if I didn’t believe in myself.”

The 32-year-old Povetkin will be making his second defense of the title he claimed by defeating Ruslan Chagaev last August.

It had been Wladimir Klitschko’s title following the Ukrainian’s victory over David Haye the month before, but was declared vacant when the WBA elevated Klitschko to “super champion” status.

The Yugoslav-born Huck takes a 34-1 (25 KOs) record into the bout. Povetkin is 23-0 (16 KOs).
