ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Historical Society has recognized a volunteer medical organization with its History Maker Award.
Medical Teams International helps people affected by disaster, conflict and poverty around the world.
Among the members of the team that was honored recently was Scott McClaine, who owns a store called Clatsop Coin in downtown Astoria.
The award was bestowed at a Portland ceremony while McClaine was away helping two pharmacies in Nicarauga.
McClaine and a group of six other volunteers spent more than a week helping two pharmacies in the largest Central American country.
