BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — David Villa scored twice as Barcelona routed Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid 5-0 Monday night, moving into first place in the Spanish league with its record fifth straight win in the ‘Clasico’ matchup.

Xavi Hernandez and Pedro Rodriguez put the defending Spanish champion ahead 2-0 in the first 18 minutes and Villa doubled the lead early in the second half, scoring twice off passes from Lionel Messi. Substitute Jeffren Suarez got the final goal in the 90th in front of nearly 100,000 fans at Camp Nou stadium.

Barcelona’s speed and quick-touch passing game frustrated Madrid throughout in its most one-sided win against Madrid since a 5-0 victory in January 1994. Barcelona has scored 17 of the last 19 goals in head-to-head matchups.
