Marian and Art Jacobson met in high school in Columbus, N.D. After she graduated in the spring of 1938, the two were married by a judge on Oct. 15, 1938, in Seattle. Numerous family members will join them at a local Mexican restaurant on their 72nd anniversary Friday.

The couple lived in Auburn when Art worked for a company making containers for frozen food. When the company relocated to Portland, the Jacobsons moved to Vancouver. They bought a house about 10 blocks east of Southwest Washington Medical Center, which at the time was practically in the country. They still live in the same house, but now it is surrounded by other houses.

The Jacobsons are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. They enjoy meeting friends for lunch and other social activities at the Firstenburg Center. The couple have four children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
