Freshman quarterback Jess Krahn drove the Hawks 75 yards for the winning touchdown, giving Hockinson its first victory of the season. With his team trailing 10-7 in a battle of winless teams, Krahn threw a 6-yard scoring pass to Conner Perry with 25 seconds to play.

“When a freshman quarterback can lead you down the field 75 yards to score the winning touchdown, he grew up a lot tonight,” Hockinson coach Rick Steele said. “It’s been a tough year with a lot of young kids playing. We started three freshmen tonight.”

P.J. Owenby led the Hockinson ground attack with 13 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Kytola rushed six times for 38 yards.

“We haven’t been able to run the ball the last couple weeks,” Steele said. “We finished with about 170 yards rushing; last week we had 4 yards rushing. Running the ball was the difference for us tonight.”

Next up: Woodland (0-8, 0-4) vs. Black Hills; Hockinson (1-7, 1-2) at Washougal.
